PROJECTS > Producer, Robert Wilson's I WAS SITTING ON MY PATIO THIS GUY APPEARED I THOUGHT I WAS HALLUCINATING
From 1977 to 1980 Some Serious Business (SSB) produced more than fifty performances throughout Los Angeles, the most ambitious of which was a production of PATIO co-directed and performed by Wilson and Lucinda Childs. Premiering on April 19, 1977 for one night only, this chamber piece was Wilson’s first performance in Los Angeles and one of the first performances in which he explored language. Some thirty-five years after its original presentation in Los Angeles, Martin (co-founder and director of SSB) will produce a reinvention of PATIO for the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945–1980 . An intimate chamber piece, the performances at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater will elucidate a side of Wilson’s work that has been rarely seen and link it solidly with the art of our time.
